So, as many of you know, Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. No ridiculous shopping for people who probably won’t even like what you’re giving them. No hodge podge about a bunny delivering eggs. No weird little green man. No need to give crappy chocolates or roses. Nothing like that. Just pure celebration of life, love, and good food.
I LOVE cooking Thanksgiving which is why we did it 3 weeks ago. I missed Canadian Thanksgiving, and so a few weeks ago I cooked up a storm of the real Thanksgiving dinner. Today we’re going to Dave’s uncle’s. Apparently the man likes to do ribs and fried turkey… does that sound thanksgiving-y to anyone normal? Not me… but thats ok. I’m not hosting, and all I have to do is bring a salad, so I’ll keep my complaining to a minimum.
Tonight Dave’s parents have generously agreed to watch our kids whilst Dave and I take a mini hiatus from life. Just for one night. I think I might go into shock if I was away from Charli and Tori for longer than that. I jokingly said to Dave the real reason we’re getting a hotel room tonight is so that we can wake up at 3am and go shopping and not wake up anyone else! He thinks I’m serious. I’m insane, but not that insane. Most of the “deals” suck anyway, and really, I’d rather get 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep instead. Besides, there are a million stores between our hotel and Dave’s parents house- we can stop on the way home! 🙂
Well, hopefully today brings you and yours lots of good food, good memories and no hospital visits. I can see us having to call an ambulance cause Uncle Don has fried himself, NOT the turkey…
We are thankful for so many things, which probably includes you if you’re reading this(unless you’re an internet stalker, then you can omit that…). We’re grateful for family, especially Dave’s parents, who we’re living with and who we really have a lot of fun with. We’re grateful for our sweet little girls that keep us on our toes all day, every day. We’re grateful that Dave has a job, I’M grateful that he’s going to school. That we have a nice, working car. A place to call home and be safe in. That Dave doesn’t go back to work till Monday! Charli is grateful for mommy and daddy, and most of all, Tori’s hair that she loves to pull(oh yeah and Tori as well). Victoria is grateful for her bike that she was able to ride this morning, mommy and daddy, Charli who she loves to play with, and all her toys.
We are so blessed with everything we have and the people that are in our lives. I love that there is a holiday dedicated to remembering whats important in life! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
